Welcome to the University of York!
Congratulations on getting a place here at the University of York. We hope you will love your time here and we are excited to be a part of your University life!
Who are we?
York DramaSoc is one of York’s largest societies with over 200 members. Our members work together to put on 16 shows a term, with over 100 performances per year.
The society is open to anyone. Whether you are studying theatre, have a passing interest or have never seen a performance before, we will provide you with a safe space to explore theatre.
We are run by our wonderful committee who are always up for a chat. If you have any general questions about the society, head over to our Facebook group where there will always be someone available to talk, or email email@example.com.
What can I do?
DramaSoc is entirely student run and lead meaning we are always on the lookout for new people to get involved with our shows.
From acting to directing, lighting design to dramaturgy, there is an abundance of opportunity for you to get involved with as many shows as you want!
Auditions will be open for some of our Autumn Term shows in Week 2. Find out more about our lineup for this term below!
We have 6 Weekend Shows this term and auditions for Week 6-9 will take place early next term. Production team roles will be available for these shows too. Head over to our Facebook group, where all our opportunities are advertised!
We also have 10 ODNs happening this term, with Weeks 4- 9 auditioning soon! Keep an eye on our Facebook Group, York DramaSoc 2020/2021 for all the audition information in the upcoming weeks!
The Freshers Play
Since 2019, DramaSoc has run a Fresher’s Play, which is directed, produced, designed and acted entirely by Freshers. It is a great way to get involved with the society without the pressure of having to pitch the show.
This year’s Freshers Play will be Lysistrata by Aristophanes. This will be our Week 8 show (20-22 November) and we are excited to work on this project with you!
Keep an eye on our socials for more information on how to get involved!
